Submission Guidelines

We are a Canadian press committed to publishing original, high-quality fiction from Canadian voices. Please review our guidelines carefully before submitting. Submissions that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

We accept manuscripts in either Canadian or U.S. English because we distribute globally.

We currently do not offer advances.  

We currently accept submissions only from Canadian citizens or permanent residents residing within Canada.  

AI-generated content is not eligible for consideration.

• Adult Fiction: 70,000–100,000 words
   
• Romance (clean/ closed-door): 60,000–90,000 words
   
• Science Fiction & Fantasy: 90,000–120,000 words
   
• Young Adult (YA): 50,000–80,000 words
   
• Middle Grade (MG): 30,000–55,000 words
   

1. Query Letter: Include in the body of your email.
    
2. Sample Chapters: Attach the first three chapters of your completed manuscript.
    
   • Accepted file types: .doc, .docx, .rtf, or .pdf.
      
   • Please label your file: Title_AuthorName_Sample.
      

1. Completed Manuscripts Only: We do not consider works in progress.
    
2. Original Material: By submitting, you confirm your manuscript is your own original work and not generated by AI or plagiarized.
    
3. Unpublished Work Only: No manuscripts previously published in any format.
    
4. No Simultaneous Submissions: Please wait for our decision before submitting your work elsewhere.
    
5. Social Media Handles: If applicable, include your user handles (e.g., YouTube/@abigfivehouse). Do not send clickable links.
    

• Queries with sample chapters: 7–30 days
   
• Full manuscripts (if requested): up to 6 weeks
  We are unable to provide editorial feedback on declined submissions.
